PR`d – He Qi Beauty Eyelid Primer.

He Qi Beauty Eyelid Primer (Light-Medium)
Sent from Lisa @ He Qi Beauty

Claims: This is He Qi’s exclusive recipe — no one else will have it. Every single ingredient in this primer was added with a purpose in mind. In Lisa’s opinion: this absolutely rival’s Urban Decay’s primer!

Contains: All natural shea butter, Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Water, Cyclohexasiloxane, Silica Propylene, Lemon & Cucumber Extract, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Ascorbic Acid, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines

* All of the above ingredients are considered non comedogenic, or non pore clogging and completely safe for cosmetic application purposes.

How To Use: Apply before eyeshadow to create a smooth surface. Also helps eyeshadows adhere and stay on longer.

My Rating: ?????
(Good – Undecided on repurchasing).

Pros:

  • Matches my skintone really well (light-fair)
  • Great for undereyes (before concealer)
  • Price! Retailing at only $12.00 for 5 grams!

Cons:

  • Not ideal for my oily eyelids.
  • Eyeshadow and eyeliner creased within an hour.

My Opinion: I really wanted to love this item for many reasons. Mainly because the lovely Lisa handmade this with love. But i am honestly still extremely undecided on if i like this or not. Let’s just say it’s a love hate relationship. First and foremost, i have oily eyelids. The only items that work well for my oily lids is UD Primer Potion. Even Shadow Insurance tends to crease on me throughout the day.

Day 1: I applied this as i normally do with all my primers, before applying my eyeshadow. I wait 10 minutes for it to dry / set so my eyelids before applying my eyeshadow. The first time i used this, i followed it with Lisa’s pigment eye shadows. (Review to come) and topped it off with my MAC Fluidline Gel Liner. I finished off my makeup and headed out the door. I commuted to work (45 minutes) and headed straight for the bathroom, to check my eyes for any creasing. Unfortunately my eyeliner and my eyeshadow was creased and a clump of oil lined my eyes. I dabbed it off gently with tissue and proceeded to work. After 3 hours of application, i checked again and once again there was a crease again. So i continued my day dabbing here and there so i didn’t have the crease sitting there.

Day 2: I tried it again with just regular panned eyeshadow. Once again, i applied it and waited 10 minutes before applying any eyeshadows (i regularly do this to ensure setting power). I ended up using MAC eyeshadows that day since i have a less chance of creasing with their eyeshadows, and once again i headed out the door. After my commute to work i checked. YAY! No creasing! But after 3 hours, i checked again and unfortunately i had a slight crease. Nowhere as much as the day before but the eyeliner once again had creased with the eyeshadow, leaving me that horrible looking line of oil. I dabbed away and checked again several times. I ended up having to only dab 2 more times after that.

Day 3: I ended up giving it another shot since i still had a little bit left of my sample. This time i tried something different. I ended up putting it under my eyes as well as on top of my eyelids, this time using less than the time before. Once again it creased on me even though i used a lot less, so in conclusion to my eyelids. This didn’t work to well for me. But for my undereyes, it was amazing. I have fine lines and wrinkles and anytime i use primers and top it off with concealer i still starts to chunk up in my lines and makes it a lot more noticeable that i’m wearing concealer. But after using this and topping it off with MAC Select Concelear, it made an AMAZING combination. No fine lines, no caking in the lines, and i had smoothness lasting me the entire day. It didn’t crease anywhere and left my undereyes flawless all day long. No touchups, NOTHING.

So in conclusion, i LOVE this product for my undereyes, but DISLIKE (i will not say hate since i don’t hate it) for my eyelids. I am still in limbo if i would purchase this since i don’t wear concealer often but honestly i see myself purchasing this for the days i do wear concealer.
